Description The project aims to recycle wastewater generated from fish farming by repurposing it as a nutrient medium for algal cultivation. To achieve this, three key processes will be investigated: water purification, algal biomass production, and the accumulation of biologically active compounds. The resulting algal biomass will subsequently be used as a nutritional source for the fish producing the wastewater, and its effects on the morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics of the fish will be assessed. Ultimately, the project seeks to develop, validate, and implement a closed-loop wastewater recycling technology within aquaculture systems, thereby reintegrating waste streams into the economic cycle and advancing the principles of the circular economy.
