Only graduates with a master’s degree or its equivalent, recognized by the competent authorities, from both domestic and foreign institutions, according to the law and the regulations of the doctoral schools, have the right to participate in the doctoral studies admission competition.

Foreign citizens can participate in doctoral studies either on a fee-paying basis or within the budgetary places offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research based on intergovernmental agreements, in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on the Studies of Foreigners in Educational Institutions of the Republic of Moldova, approved by Government Decision no. 504 of July 4, 2017, and the institutional Regulation regarding the recognition and equivalence of foreign study documents and study periods completed abroad and/or in other doctoral schools in the Republic of Moldova, adopted at the USM Senate meeting on March 29, 2022.

The application files, scanned in color, must be sent to the Doctoral and Postgraduate Studies Office at the following email address: lilia.spinu@usm.md , during the period from September to October.

The candidate’s file must contain the following documents (and legally certified translations into Romanian or into an international language of circulation):

  1.     Application for enrollment– A document in which the candidate formally expresses their intention to pursue doctoral studies at the respective institution.
  2.     Bachelor’s and master’s diplomas (or their equivalents)– These documents must be recognized by the competent authorities to demonstrate the completion of previous studies required for access to the doctoral program.
  3.     Diploma supplement– The academic record or transcript accompanying the diploma, detailing the courses taken and the grades obtained.
  4.     Birth certificate– Scanned color copy of the birth certificate.
  5.     Identity document – Scanned color copy of the passport(for dual citizenship – both passports) valid for at least one year.
  6.     CV (Curriculum Vitae)– A summary of the candidate’s academic and professional experience.
  7.     Letter of intent– A document in which the candidate explains the reasons for wanting to pursue doctoral studies, their interest in the respective field, and long-term professional objectives.
  8.     Research plan/project– A description of the research topic that the candidate intends to address during the doctoral studies.
  9.     Recommendations – Letters of recommendation from professors or professionals in the field who can attest to the candidate’s ability to pursue an advanced study program.
  10.  Proof of language proficiency– Certificate attesting to proficiency in the language of the study program, if applicable.
  11.  Legally certified translations– In case the original documents are not in Romanian or in an international language of circulation, they must be accompanied by legally certified translations.
  12.  Any other documents specified by the institution– These may include specific application forms, portfolio of works (for creative fields), etc.

Note: The study documents will be apostilled/superlegalized in accordance with the provisions of the legislation of the issuing state and of the Republic of Moldova, and translated into Romanian or into an international language of circulation; It is important that all documents be prepared according to the instructions and sent in the requested format (in this case, scanned color copies by email) during the mentioned period. Careful verification of the specific requirements of the program and institution is essential to ensure a complete and correct application.
